In 1870 at a crossroads site at the foot of Benbradagh, on the main Dungiven to Garvagh road, John Mullan built a Public Bar and shop to service the local community of Gelvin. "Mullan's Corner" as it became affectionately known, traded for 100 years before being replaced in 1970, when Paddy and Nancy Rafferty built and opened a bar and lounge called The Grey Gables. The Rafferty family business was to trade successfully for 22 years until 1992 when Paddy retired.
